How to Add an AI Assistant to Your Website (WordPress, Shopify and More)

Adding Infinite Chats to your website takes one step: pasting the embed code from your dashboard into your site. Here is how that works on the most common website platforms.

1. Get your embed code

Sign in to your dashboard, open your agent, and find the Embed Code section. Copy the code exactly as it appears. You can also customize how the assistant looks on your site from the widget settings.

2. Add it to your site

WordPress: use a header and footer code plugin, or your theme's custom code settings, and paste the code so it loads on every page. Some site builders, such as Elementor, also offer a custom code area.

Shopify: in your store's theme settings, edit the theme code and paste the embed code just before the closing body tag in the main layout file, or use an app that adds custom scripts.

Wix, Squarespace and similar builders: look for a "custom code" or "code injection" setting, usually in site settings, and add the code to all pages.

Custom websites: paste the code into your site template just before the closing </body> tag, or ask your web developer to do it.

Platform menus change over time, so check your platform's help pages if a setting has moved.

3. Test it

Open your website in a private browser window
Check that the assistant appears
Start a conversation and ask a few common questions
Test on a phone as well as a computer

Troubleshooting

The assistant does not appear: clear your site's cache, and make sure the code was saved on all pages
It appears twice: the code was added in two places; remove one
Answers are wrong: update the knowledge base, not the embed code

Where to show the assistant

Most businesses add the assistant to every page so visitors can start a conversation wherever they are. If you only want it on certain pages, such as service or pricing pages, add the code just to those pages using your platform's page-level settings.

Keep your site fast

Add the embed code once, in one place. Avoid stacking several chat or popup tools on the same page, which can slow your site and confuse visitors. If you already use another chat tool, decide which one should handle conversations before adding a second.
